Writing About Life's "Broken Pieces"

Toward the end of this brief but sharp piece about writing memoir, author and instructor Jessica Handler drops this gem: 

"To me, writing a life story means genuinely depicting how someone has shaped his or her life with the broken pieces as well as the whole."
