The worst thing writers do is censor themselves. It takes courage to put words on paper. It’s time to lose your writing inhibitions. As we work through fiction and non-fiction writing prompts, we will discuss what it takes to tell a good story. The class will focus on ways to get started, stay motivated, and be true to your creative voice. We’ll have tips and writing prompts for fiction, essays, and poetry.

Students will:

Learn where to find inspiration

Practice retelling life experiences

Try the art of creating pure fiction

Test their ability to revise and critique

Find out what writing exercises work for them

 

Open to writers of all levels.

Class Limit is 20.

About the Instructor

Nicki Salcedo is the author of a novel and three books of essays. The title piece for her latest collection, “In My Father’s Shoes,” is based on the bittersweet experience she had wearing her father’s shoes after he died. She’s a graduate of Stanford University where she studied English and Creative Writing. Her work has appeared in the Atlanta Journal Constitution, Good Housekeeping, Decaturish, and AtlantaLoop.
