Outline That Dang Thing
Instructor: Carrie Schrader
"We do not need magic to change the world, we carry all the power we need inside ourselves already: we have the power to imagine better."
— J.K. Rowling
Harness the power of your imagination to create a powerful outline for your story. This day long workshop will be spent using intensive timed writing exercises to generate a thorough outline and/or synopsis for a screenplay, teleplay, memoir, novel, short story, podcast… you name it! This can be used with a new idea, or one that’s been bumping around in various states. The process walks each writer through a series of character-based writings that lead to compelling, plot-specific details. It is a fabulous way to nail down the infrastructure of your story while boosting the conflict and enhancing the drama.
-Create a structurally sound, character driven outline.
-Fix plot holes and strengthen weak spots in an existing story.
-Use specific writing exercise that break down the outlining process into doable, bite size exercises that are fun and evocative.
-Gather a new set of tricks for your writing tool belt.
-Get the bones of your story really solid so that it doesn’t fall apart when it gets moving.
-Have fun writing with others.
Open to writers of all levels.
