Instructor: Melodie Rodgers

Do you have the desire to unleash a story but not sure where to begin, or how? Has your writing project collected dust over the years and you hope to dive back in? Creative writing is one of the most exhilarating ways to express yourself, and you're never too old or too young to unleash a story. Come on in. The water's fine. This day-long workshop is an introduction to the pleasures of the creative writing process. Participants will benefit from in-depth readings and constructive critical support in a workshop that fosters a community of writers. We will explore writing fiction and poetry, engage in writing exercises, and share our work.

  • Offer useful and thoughtful critiques
  • Integrate criticism into their own work
  • Read with a writer's sensibility
  • Compose original stories and poems
  • Craft a poetic line
  • Utilize metaphors and other types of figurative language
